Hints for Editing and Proofreading your Case Study

When you write a case study, you look at a group of people or individuals and some kind of data regarding them. Case study writers have a variety of different sources of data to look at, from actual observations and test, to writing samples and interviews. Once they gather the proper data, they start putting together their papers in a particular style. When it comes to writing a case study, the most important aspects of the paper involve the data and how well it is documented.

Find a Friend to Help with Editing

Once you are finished writing the case study, it is important to proofread and edit to ensure that you do not have any errors that would prohibit the success of the paper. Most people are not good at editing their own papers. It is helpful to find someone who can help you edit who has never seen your paper before because fresh eyes will notice minor errors, like spelling and grammar mistakes.

Check the Citations

The other errors that will be vital to find are those regarding the documentation of the sources and data that you used. You should look at all of your in-text citations and be sure they all match with the works cited page. You will want to be sure that everything matches and that you have written everything just as it was originally written. You also want to be sure that you have properly documented the data that you paraphrased.

Since most case studies have psychology involved, they require the writers to use the APA style. You will want to be sure that you have designed the paper to follow the requirements. Even the title page has to look a particular way. If you make mistakes in the basics, then the strength of your paper will be reduced.

Be Sure You Follow the Instructions

When you write your case study, be sure that you use the requirements for your paper. If you need to analyze the people in your case study with psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavior, or humanistic approach, be sure that you follow the instructions. It is also helpful to know if you are required to include your diagnosis or evaluation. You should also be sure that you give the people you analyze pseudonyms, too.

Many people who have to write case studies look at other case studies so they know what the papers should look like. It helps to read them for ideas on writing as well as on editing, too.
