Creating a Term Paper: what is Prewriting?

Creating a term paper is not an easy assignment to handle but it is one that you will be doing sooner or later. Whether you’re in high school or college, term papers are assigned to test your knowledge of a particular subject to ensure that you are aware of what you’ve learned so far. What is Pre-Writing?

Pre-writing is writing your rough draft, taking notes, etc. doing this before you actually sit down to write the paper will help you have all of the information that you need at hand so you’re not trying to remember where you found the information and eliminates the need to dig through the books again. Many students use notecards to take notes. If this is something that you will be doing, make sure that you use one notecard for one piece of information and that you are citing the reference on the card.

The Importance of Pre-Writing

When you are pre-writing you can save yourself a lot of time, as you can see, but it also helps you make a more interesting, more informative paper that really shines in the eyes of your professor. It is kind of like proofreading before you submit the paper, and it is that final touch that really makes your paper incredible. You can also narrow down your paper by pre-writing. You have the chance to see what you’ve written and determine its relevance to the paper that you have created. Anything that is not substance filled with information can be removed.

Prewriting is not an option when you’ve been assigned a term paper. This very important paper is a large part of your grade, so it is a must that you do well on it. If you want to do well all that you need to do is pre-write. It is just that simple.
